January Inventory Drive Winners!

We're happy to announce the winners of our January inventory drive challenge!

On January 1st we announced a month-long campaign to drive up inventory here at Twoshirts.org in order to jump-start our effort to create a community of generosity in Columbus, Ohio - and you guys responded in a big, big way!

Our outrageous challenge was to reach 1000 items, and even thought we didn't reach that ambitious goal we did reach 607 FREE items which is far beyond our original expectations for the first official month here at Twoshirts.org!

We can't thank you enough for your enthusiastic participation! We believe this gives the Twoshirts community a chance to begin impacting the city of Columbus with radical generosity starting now!

On January 20th we announced the prize for being the user with the most items posted to give away free: two $25 gift cards to Dave & Busters, a local restaurant and game center here in Columbus.

I think most of us already know that this turned out to be a race between two people: Sarron and norret. It looked like Sarron was going to run away with the prize early on, but then Norret came on strong at the end. The final count as of 11:59PM last night was:

    January Inventory Drive Results:

  • Norret: 186 items listed to give
  • Sarron: 136 items listed to give

Let's face it. Nobody else even came close. Many of us posted lots of great items - and we sincerely thank all of you - but Norret and Sarron took it to a whole new level and demonstrated a selfless willingness to share their possessions that should challenge and inspire all of us.

Thanks guys for your enthusiastic participation!

Frankly, we're humbled by what both of these members have done, and can't bring outselves to deprive Sarron of a prize, so we've decided to double the prize and give $50 Dave & Busters cards to BOTH Norret and Sarron.

Congratulations guys, you deserve it!

WoW! Thanks Twoshirts!

Congrats Norret! I am so happy that we came so close to our goal, and I am sure we will reach the 1000 mark in February! I am so glad to see that many people are finding things on this site that help them out (I have found many items myself that I just couldn't live without :). Thank you for giving a prize to us also, even though we were blown out of the water! My brothers and sisters are going to be so happy to hear that they get to go to Dave and Busters and play some games! Thanks Jason and everyone at Twoshirts!!! Sarron

LOL! You're MUCH more brave than I. Our garage is attached but it's too cold for me to search for anymore than 5 min. at a time.:-) (Not to mention the lighting is *horrible* without opening the garage door - which defeats the purpose of trying to keep out most of the cold). I'll have to wait for another winter "heat wave" of at least 42 degrees before I will actually attempt a search. Haha. Anyways....congrats to the both of you.:-)

"OK I WAS JUST POSTING MY GIVAWAYS AND WAS NOTICING THAT EVERTIME, THE AMOUNT OF POST WENT DOWN"

Yeah, I noticed that the other day too. It's good that we can keep up with things that way BUT we should have a seperate tally (if possible) to show what exactly has been done for the month....and the months to come. I'd bet if we *didn't* have 1,000 total - we came pretty darn close.

HELP!

I am new and unsure of several things. I want to list more items but do I list items individually or ???? I also don't know if I can ask for things for others. I am really big into this - if I see something I know another is looking for I try to get it - especially if it is free! lol. Can someone please let me know what and how to do these. I am sure I have more questions but I need to be at church at 7 and I still have some more here to look for.

Usually list individually

Amiller17,

Great questions. As a general rule it's better to list items individually since most people aren't attracted to listing titles like, "lots of great stuff." It's best for your titles to be brief and descriptive, like, "Men's Timex Watch."

There are exceptions to this rule. If you have items that bundle together well, like a tackle box and lures, then it's best to bundle them accordingly (i.e. "Large Tackle box with lures"). Clothing works well this way too, for example, "Set of Men's Clothing" along with detailed descriptions of each item in the main body of the listing works better than listing every pair of pants, shirt, socks, etc individually.

Regarding your other question, you can ask for anything you want. I think it's a great idea to ask for things that you know others in your community need. You may want to say this in your "Need" listing (i.e. "There's a man on my street who really needs a refrigerator and can't afford it"). Of course, it would be best if that man joined Twoshirts himself, but sometimes this isn't practical or realistic...or even possible. In such cases I think we should use Twoshirts for the benefit of others.

Let me know what other question you have!
