Christmas Spotlight: The Auckland City Mission

Check out this very clever and cool commercial created for the Aukland City Mission (New Zealand), whose program every December strives to "Make Christmas happen for every Aukland child." The video features an Auckland homeless child imagining what Christmas morning might be like...with the help of some chalk.

This year ACM donations are down by 70%, making this effort more difficult than ever. Not only is the commercial cool, the mission and vision of the ACM is fantastic:

In their own words,

"The Auckland City Mission provides unique and specialised health and social services to marginalised Aucklanders, helping them to move forward. Our work is constantly developing as the political, economic and social climate changes. Over the life of the Mission we have extended our work directly into the community and increased our advocacy role in order to offer relevant solutions to those who come to us for help.

We offer hope to individuals and families who may be experiencing a temporary set back or a long-term problem that needs expert attention. We provide the immediate assistance required e.g. food, clothing, bedding, and work with the individual or family to find a workable, long term solution to the issues they face.

Working to create an understanding, inclusive and just society where no one is marginalised. Values we will hold individually and as an organisation."

I realize they're a long way away, but check out their website by clicking here and consider giving them a small Christmas donation. They're doing good in a place that doesn't get a lot of attention.
